Weclome to Cliff Coast, the Home of the Vimp

Cliffcoast, CA. A northern California town with cliff-side beaches and forested mountains. A picturesque, yet not isolated place, the residents of Cliffcoast are mostly Irish/Scottish descent, with names like O'Bradey, or McCullah. They celebrate St. Patrick's day every year with vigor, hold Celtic festivals just for fun, and they have the Miss Lucky Clover pageant where the prettiest gal in town gets to reign for a year and ride a float in every parade. Cliffcoast has all the modern amenities, including a shopping mall, a Cineplex, and a small airfield.

Oh, and vampires. Let's not forget the vampires.

Though most locals would not admit to believing in such things as vampires, all of them know to never venture into the mountains after dark. That is where people vanish, and are never seen again

This is where the tales of Eve McAllister take place--the Vimp novellas.

The McAllister family has lived in Cliffcoast for a couple generations. An upstanding dentist with four children--thee biological and one adopted, with his wife, a stay-at-home mom with her own craft-and-sell online side business. Most Cliffcoasters would say they were model citizens, except... well, they adopted Eve.

Most of the townspeople don't know Eve's origins. And what was known had always been considered a joke their father told his children--that a vampire bat dropped Eve on their laps Halloween 14 years ago. The thing is, it is the truth.

Now, Eve had always believed that she had merely been abandoned by her parents when she was a baby because she had a skin and eye condition akin to albinism, severe allergies, and strange sharp teeth, as well as a strange birthmark on her back that looked like a pair of batwings.

And for years she had always thought people looked at her strange simply because she was different. But on her 14th Halloween Eve starts to go through changes. Her canines (which her father filed down regularly as a dentist) grew back in and refused to be filed down any more, her reflection vanished, and so did her shadow. Also, she started to see and hear tiny little floating demons that, it turns out, are everywhere trying to convince people to do naughty, stupid things.

With her life suddenly turned upside down, Eve eventually meets her birth parents. She also learns why her creepy history teacher had been glaring at her for years--he had been hired to keep an eye on her in case she ever turned 'vampire' on the town.

But Eve is not a vampire. She is a vimp--an impossible cross between an vampire and an imp, and the answer to a several-thousand-year-old curse. One is born every 300 years, and she is it.

The thing is, Eve is a native Cliffcoaster. All she wants to do is surf.

Currently there are 8 vimp stories. Most are set on a holiday, but each follow Eve's journey towards her destiny--whatever that is.

The final story of Eve is yet to be written. Yet it must be said that most stories about 'monsters' are tragic.

A sneak peek.

The main question of the stories of Eve McAllister is: can a demon find redemption? Are we who we are born as, or do we have a choice about our futures?

And what if God has something else in mind?

These are from a novel in the works...

Speculate if you dare.
